Held is a research project exploring experiences and expressions of grief, using participatory art to rewild the increasingly clinical mechanics surrounding death. Grief can feel beyond words so we will play across artforms in an attempt to articulate the ineffable. Using film, song and textiles we will explore the sensory aspects of grief, offering them as an opportunity to contemplate the subject not only on a cerebral level, but also on a physical one. We will share our discoveries as a series of installations to be participated in on a personal level, whilst also drawing awareness to the unifying nature of loss and sorrow.
Below are some textures of our own work that form the starting point for this project.
